The "Isle of Islay" (pronounced: Eila) is a small island in the south-west of Scotland where only about 3,500 people live. There are currently eight active whiskey distilleries on the Isle of Islay: Arbeg , Bowmore , Bruichladdich , Bunnahabhain , Caol Ila , Kilchoman , Lagavulin and Laphroaig - along with the Smokehead , Octomore , Port Charlotte and Ileach brands.
