  • Glen Turner - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glen Turner Company, owned by the French group La Martiniquaise, holds a significant position in the world of Scotch whisky. Initially established in 1981 to oversee the production and marketing of the Label 5 blend, Glen Turner has evolved into a major player in the Scotch whisky business.

Today, the company operates not only the Glen Moray Single Malt Distillery in Elgin and the Starlaw Grain Distillery in Edinburgh but also produces the Sir Edward’s Blend as well as Glen Turner Vatted and Single Malts.

The Starlaw Distillery, sometimes referred to as the Glen Turner Distillery, was opened in 2010 in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland, and is owned by the La Martiniquaise group. It produces 25 million liters annually and supports the maturation of over 600,000 barrels with its 29 aging warehouses on 75 hectares. Although an application to expand the distillery was rejected by the West Lothian Council in 2021, Starlaw remains a key component in the production of the brand's Blended Scotch Whiskies, including Cutty Sark and Label 5.

Glen Turner whiskies are produced using traditional methods in the Highlands of Scotland and are known for their generosity and elegant bouquet. The Glen Turner Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, especially the Heritage and the Malt Legend 12-year-old expressions, are characterized by double maturation in bourbon and port casks or exclusive maturation in bourbon casks, giving them a fruity, spicy note with hints of toasted vanilla, spicy oak, and caramel.

The Glen Turner Company and its whiskies represent the blend of traditional Scottish whisky production with the dynamism and innovation of a globally operating French company. Through a combination of traditional malting processes, careful cask selection, and modern marketing strategies, Glen Turner has secured a firm place in the global whisky scene.
