GlenAllachie's aim: "To make single malt Scotch whiskey the way we like to drink it".

history of the distillery

Founded in 1967, GlenAllachie Distillery has long been foreign owned. Whiskey luminary Billy Walker and his partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson decided to change that: in 2017 they founded the GlenAllachie Distillers Company and bought the distillery.

Interesting data about the distillery

Since then, The GlenAllachie has been one of the few independently owned distilleries in Scotland. Located at the foot of Ben Rinnes , the distillery is in the heart of Speyside with an emphasis on quality over quantity. In 16 warehouses with over 50,000 casks, the dedicated team has complete control over the entire aging process, giving them the freedom to make decisions for the right reasons.

GlenAllachie has the capacity to produce four million liters of alcohol. We decided to reduce this to just 600,000 liters. Such a large amount was simply superfluous; the distillery wanted to focus on developing GlenAllachie as a single malt brand. By slowing down production, they now have the luxury of being able to run a longer fermentation of 160 hours. This allows GlenAllachie to better understand the workings of the distillery and gives them time to discover the character of the new spirits being made.

Billy Walker-Master Blender

At the helm of The GlenAllachie Distillers Company is renowned Master Blender Billy Walker. Since taking over the distillery in 2017, Billy has transformed the spirit that slumbers in the 16 on-site warehouses into something truly spectacular.

With half a century of experience, Master Distiller Billy Walker is an icon in the Scotch whiskey industry. Throughout his illustrious career, Billy Walker has received countless awards including Master Distiller/Blender of the Year (World Whiskey Awards, 2020). In 2021 he was inducted into Whiskey Magazine's prestigious Hall of Fame - a standing tribute to those who have made a lasting contribution to the industry.
