DESCRIPTION

Ardbeg rühmt sich, der ultimative Islay Malt Whisky zu sein. 1815 gegründet, wird Ardbeg von Kennern in aller Welt als der torfigste, rauchigste und komplexeste aller Islay Whiskys verehrt.

Dieser limitierte Ardbeg BizarreBQ ist der erste vom Barbecue inspirierte Whisky der Destillerie. Wie beim Grillen, erzeugt auch beim Destillieren ein Schlüsselelement Geschmack – das Feuer.

Dieser Whisky wurde in einer Kombination aus drei Fässern mit starkem Toasting gereift: doppelt verkohlte Eichenfässer, Pedro-Ximénez-Sherryfässer und Ardbegs selbst erfundene BBQ-Fässer, die in einem traditionellen Feuerkorb extra stark verkohlt wurden.

Die Kombination dieser Fässer erzeugt einen köstlich süßen, würzig-rauchigen Geschmack, der perfekt zum Grillen geeignet ist. Ardbeg BizarreBQ beeindruckt mit würzigen, torfigen Noten.

Ardbeg's Director of Whisky Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden arbeitete mit dem Barbecue-Guru Christian Stevenson (alias DJ BBQ) zusammen, um diese einzigartige Rezeptur und limitierte Auflage zu entwickeln.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Duft von Holzkohle und Ruß mischen sich mit rauchigem Holz und aromatischen Kräutern und Gewürzen. Melasse-Toffee, Hickory-Räucherschinken und zimtbestäubter Espresso steigen auf. Mit einem Spritzer Wasser setzen sich unverkennbar kräftige Zitrusaromen frei, mit Kräuternoten wie Fenchel und Anis. Gegrillte Artischocken und etwas Bratfleisch lassen den Geschmackssinn brutzeln. Der unverkennbare Geruch eines Lagerfeuers und Grillglut wabert im Hintergrund.
Gaumen
Palate		 Auf der Zunge zeigt sich Ardbeg BizarreBQ lebendig-würzig, mit Noten von in Chili eingelegten Spareribs. Eine Menge von tiefem, wärmendem Rauch folgt mit, über offenem Feuer gegrillten Steak, Chili-Öl, gegerbtem Leder und Gewürznelken. Ingwer, Anis und Teer knuspern am Gaumen mit einer aromatischen Holzrauchnote.
Abgang
Finish		 Der wuchtige, scharfe Nachhall ist langanhaltend, mit weiterer gegrillter Artischocke, schwarzen Oliven und einer rußigen Note, die sich langsam verflüchtigt.

    Perched on the rugged southern coast of Islay, part of Scotland's Inner Hebrides, Ardbeg Distillery is a name revered in the world of Scotch whisky. Established in 1798 and entering commercial whisky production in 1815, Ardbeg boasts a rich history intertwined with the very essence of Islay whisky-making.

    Ardbeg is celebrated for its intensely peated Islay whisky, a style defined by the use of malted barley from the Port Ellen maltings. This distinct peat character, combined with traditional distillation methods, results in a whisky that is both deeply complex and unmistakably Islay. Now under the stewardship of luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, Ardbeg continues to uphold its legacy while embracing innovation.

    The distillery has earned global acclaim with its award-winning expressions. The Ardbeg Ten Years Old, for instance, was named World Whisky of the Year and Scotch Single Malt of the Year in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008. Ardbeg Uigeadail continued this trend, receiving the same accolades in 2009 and 2010. Such recognition cements Ardbeg's status as a producer of exceptional Scotch.

    Ardbeg's pioneering spirit extends beyond traditional whisky-making. In 2011, the distillery sent 20 vials of Ardbeg spirit and wood particles to the International Space Station, showcasing its commitment to innovation. Despite its international fame, Ardbeg remains deeply rooted in its local community, employing around sixty staff members who reside locally.

    Operating with two pot stills, Ardbeg produces approximately 10,000 casks (1.4 million liters) of spirit annually. The name 'Ardbeg,' derived from the Scottish Gaelic 'An Àird Bheag,' meaning 'The small headland,' is not just a name but a testament to the distillery's connection to the land and community.
