Collection Girvan - Lowland Grain Scotch Whisky
Girvan Distillery is a Lowland grain whiskey distillery in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The distillery is owned by William Grant & Sons. The distillery is named after the town of Girvan. The distillery is renowned as one of the most energy efficient distilleries in Scotland.
The Girvan distillery was built in 1963 and in 1963 the first Coffey distillery was installed, which was celebrated with the first official bottling. The reason William Grant & Sons built the distillery was a dispute between the Grant family and the DCL. Under the close supervision of Charles Grant Gordon, the Girvan Distillery was built and producing alcohol within nine months of breaking ground. In 1985, the company introduced its Black Barrel export single grain whiskey to the markets of Spain, Portugal and Italy.
