The Linkwood distillery was founded in Speyside in 1821. Distilling tasty single malts and top-of-the-line whiskeys for blends until 1971, this is where it gets a little confusing.   • Linkwood - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Die Linkwood Distillery ist eine Whisky-Destillerie in Elgin in der schottischen Region Speyside. Sie befindet sich im Besitz des britischen Getränkeriesen Diageo.

    Die Brennerei wurde 1821 von Peter Brown mit zwei Brennblasen erbaut und nahm 1825 die Produktion mit einer Kapazität von 4 500 Litern pro Jahr auf.

    Nach einer vorübergehenden Schließung zwischen 1941 und 1945 aufgrund von Gerstenknappheit während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde die Brennerei 1945 unter Roderick Mackenzie wiedereröffnet, der sie bis 1963 leitete.

    Mackenzie vertrat die Ansicht, dass alles, was in der Brennerei geschieht, zum Endprodukt beiträgt. 1962 beschloss Scottish Malt Distillers, dass die Brennerei von Grund auf renoviert werden musste.
