Hibiki Japanese Harmony Masters Select is an unprecedented exclusive blend that brings to life the harmony of Japanese nature and craftsmanship. With subtle sweet sherry notes enhanced, the result is a delicate, harmonious expression that is both subtle and complex.

Master's Select is actually a different blend than regular Harmony.

Master's Select is a blend of 10 different Japanese malt and grain whiskeys from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries, aged in 5 different casks including American white oak casks, sherry casks and Mizunara oak casks. As with regular Harmony, there is no age statement and it is bottled at 43% ABV.

    Suntory ist die Heimat der preisgekrönten japanischen Whiskys Yamazaki, Hibiki und Hakushu sowie der amerikanischen Kultspirituosen Jim Beam und Maker's Mark.

    Die Yamazaki Distillery ist eine japanische Whisky-Destillerie in Shimamoto, Präfektur Osaka, Japan. Sie wurde 1923 eröffnet und war die erste kommerzielle Whisky-Brennerei in Japan, die sich im Besitz von Suntory befand.

    Der Firmengründer und Vorsitzende von Kotobukiya (dem Vorgängerunternehmen von Suntory) wollte einen seriösen Whisky herstellen und stellte daher Taketsuru Masataka ein, den er 1924 zum Fabrikdirektor der Yamazaki-Brennerei ernannte.

    Dieser Nachfahre einer Sake-Brauerfamilie aus dem 17. Jahrhundert war 1918 in Schottland. Er reiste, um an der Universität Glasgow zu studieren und lernte vor Ort, wie man schottischen Whisky herstellt.

    Er heiratete eine Schottin, Jessie Roberta "Rita" Cowan, die 1920 mit ihm nach Japan ging. Unter Taketsuru wurde 1929 die Produktion des ersten Whiskys abgeschlossen, der als Shirofuda (weißes Etikett auf Englisch) verkauft wurde.

    1934 verließ Taketsuru aufgrund von Differenzen mit Torii das Unternehmen und gründete im selben Jahr Daju-Nippon Kaju KK in Hokkaidō, das später in Nikka Whisky Distilling umbenannt wurde.
