BESCHREIBUNG
With the ARTE Edition 02, the distillery has mixed two different malt recipes for the first time. A portion of this whiskey has been distilled from the three-malt recipe and aged in ex-bourbon casks for almost three years, followed by a further five years in virgin oak casks.

The second part is a first single malt whisky, distilled only from barley malt and matured in ex-bourbon casks for over four years.

The result is a particularly dry and sweet whiskey in which delicate notes of honey and vanilla combine with fresh and spicy notes of ginger, hay and freshly roasted tobacco leaves.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Wood spices with nutmeg, cinnamon and a hint of cloves. Pear, baked apple, vanilla, marzipan, macaroon, maple syrup and lemon drops.
Gaumen
Palate		 Spicy with plenty of white pepper, with yellow fruits (apple, peach, apricot), vanilla, walnuts and almonds.
Abgang
Finish		 Quite long and dry, salty, spicy, vanilla, chocolate and lightly toasted.

    Im idyllischen Vinschgau, inmitten der Alpen und umgeben von Getreidefeldern steht seit 2010 die erste Whiskydestillerie Italiens.

    PUNI wurde 2010 von Albrecht Ebensperger im Vinschgau, dem "Hochland von Italien", gegründet. Die Brennerei hat ihren Namen vom Fluss Puni, der in der Nähe durch das Tal fließt.

    Ähnlich wie die schottischen Brennereien, die oft gälische Namen tragen, ist PUNI ein alter raetischer Name, der die Brennerei tief in der lokalen Geschichte verwurzelt. Der Anbau von Getreide hat im Vinschgau eine lange Tradition, vor allem von Roggen, und PUNI verwendet ausschließlich Roggen aus lokalem Anbau für seine Maische.

    PUNI verwendet drei Arten von gemälztem Getreide; die Gerste bildet die malzige, würzige Grundlage, der Weizen fügt eine weiche Süße hinzu und der Roggen bringt Körper und Tiefe in die Spirituose.

    Die Brennerei befindet sich inmitten der Alpen, in einem hübschen, 13 Meter hohen, roten Backsteinwürfel. Er wurde durch den traditionellen Stil der alten, luftdurchlässigen Ziegelwände einer ländlichen Scheune inspiriert, die in sanften Erdtönen gefärbt sind und sowohl Tradition als auch Modernität verkörpern. Im Inneren befinden sich handgefertigte Kupferbrennblasen.

    Im Frühjahr 2012 wurde die Produktion nach über zweijähriger Bauzeit endlich aufgenommen. Etwas mehr als drei Jahre später, im Oktober 2015, wurde der erste italienische Malt Whisky geboren.
