BESCHREIBUNG

A superb Islay single malt from the Port Askaig range - this time aged in refill American hogshead casks for an impressive 28 years. As always with Port Askaig bottlings, we don't know which Islay distillery produced this whisky, but it is fabulous indeed. Beautiful and mysterious... Even after a long maturing period, the focus is on the peat and a bouquet of fresh herbs. A dram that always surprises.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 A complex blend of medicine cabinets, fresh mint, pine resin, smoked tea leaves and hospital linen that air dries. This is followed by flaked almonds, kirsch, lychee, guava and pineapple rings in syrup. With water, vanilla beans and burnt caramel emerge in the background.
Gaumen
Palate		 Greasy, generous and meaty with chicken legs wrapped in pancetta, salted bacon with bay leaves and salted padrón peppers. Rich coconut butter, orange peel and cinnamon-dusted Portuguese custard tarts aren't far behind. Distant wildflower fields of violets, lavender and camphor trees bring freshness to the table.
Abgang
Finish		 A long finish of wood smoke, rosemary, menthol and liquorice. You are immediately ready for another sip.
