TASTING NOTES

Nase Nose	The first impression is a sweet, nutty smoke enriched with barley sugar and ripe fruit. Syrupy apricot and ripe pear along with malty vanilla notes of barley flour and crème brulee, honey and tablets. The American oak brings coconut, almonds and charred oak. The peat smoke is delicate but powerful and combines with the charred oak to bring out boot polish, leather and earthy notes.
Gaumen Palate	A viscous texture on the palate, the feeling of densely smoked grain that comes across as smoked granola with honey fruit. A second sip offers an opportunity to unlock complexity on the palate, with smoked apricot jam, barley flour, peat embers and burnt heather balanced with gooseberry citrus and sweet Turkish delight. Oak chips, sugared almonds and chocolate lime with spicy aniseed finish. A drop of water intensifies the smoke and brings out the minerality of the whisky.
Abgang Finish	On the finish, the sweetness fades and an earthy, mossy note lingers on the palate, wrapped in dry pagan peat smoke. Salty citrus and floral notes of geranium and rose calmly come through, rounding out another wonderful expression of the octomore paradox.

Octomore - Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Octomore ist der wohl rauchigste Single Malt Whisky der Welt und wird von der Bruichladdich-Brennerei auf Islay hergestellt.
Die Chargen haben Torfgehalte von bis zu 208 ppm erreicht, was deutlich über den Werten anderer Islay-Brennereien liegt, die selten 60 ppm überschreiten. Die Phenole sind bei etwas niedrigerem Alter am ausdrucksvollsten, was dazu führt, dass typische Abfüllungen nur 5-10 Jahre reifen.
