BESCHREIBUNG
With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has recently grown to include an independent, family-run farm distillery. The former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, John Campbell, is not the only one responsible for the unmistakable style of their single malt.

One of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea only uses their own barley, distilling and aging their whiskey on site. From the field to the bottle, the Lochlea Single Malt is traceable - true to the distillery's motto, "Dare to be honest".

Now the permanent core release of the farm burners is here. Lochlea Our Barley is the result of the cask recipe perfected by John Campbell and blind tasting with the distillery team. The single malt Scotch whiskey from the Lowlands matures in a sophisticated combination of first fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts and STR barriques, i.e. "scraped" or "shaved", "toasted" and "recharred" wine casks. At an ideal drinking strength of 46% vol. the whiskey leads from pear syrup and fruit candy on the nose to fresh fruit and cereal notes on the palate to macadamia nuts and orange beeswax.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Strong aroma of pear syrup and fruit candies, followed by hints of savory jam and cinnamon.
Gaumen
Palate		 Lochlea-typical notes of fresh fruit and cereals with rich light syrup.
Abgang
Finish		 Macadamia nuts, cream soda with notes of vanilla and a wonderfully lingering note of orange beeswax.

  • Lochlea - Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Lochlea war ursprünglich eine Rinderfarm, als sie im Jahr 2006 erworben wurde. In der Vergangenheit wurde auf dem Farmland Gerste angebaut, hauptsächlich als Viehfutter.

    2015 begann die Brennerei mit einem Experiment und baute 50 Hektar Braugerste an.

    Im Stillen zu arbeiten, aus Fehlern zu lernen, die Möglichkeiten zu erforschen und Kontakte in der Mälzereiindustrie zu knüpfen, gab der Brennerei das Vertrauen, eine große Entscheidung zu treffen: die Entwicklung und den Betrieb einer Single-Malt-Brennerei in Lochlea.

    Die Bauarbeiten begannen 2017 mit der Umwandlung des ehemaligen Schweinestalls, der Scheune und des Heuschobers im Herzen des Bauernhofs in eine Brennerei und der Umwidmung der Rinderställe in Lagerhäuser unter Zollverschluss.

    Nachdem wir alle Genehmigungen erhalten hatten, wurde die Brennerei im August 2018 in Betrieb genommen.
