Hazelburn Sherry Wood is an annual limited edition matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks.

The annual Hazelburn Sherrywood range provides a stark contrast to the fully bourbon aged Hazelburn 10 Year Old. Matured in 100% Oloroso Sherry casks, this 15-year-old Hazelburn is a complex, full-bodied dram.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Spicy notes of orange and tangerine kick off this dram, which develops into hints of milk chocolate, wine gums and fruitcake.
Gaumen
Palate		 The Oloroso aging is evident in notes of cinnamon, hard toffee and milk chocolate. There is a musty element reminiscent of cigar boxes and nutmeg.
Abgang
Finish		 The cinnamon note persists, while notes of gingerbread and ground pepper develop in the finish.

  • Hazelburn - Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Die Hazelburn Distillery war eine Brennerei in Campbeltown, Schottland, die zwischen etwa 1825 und 1925 in Betrieb war.

    Bis 1871 war sie im Besitz der Gebrüder Greenlees von Lorne Highland Whisky, denen auch Dalaruan und Lagavulin gehörten, doch 1881 wurde daraus die Firma Greenlees and Colvill. Ebenfalls 1881 kaufte Captain Samuel Greenlees die Partnerschaft von Daniel Greenlees auf und erwarb auch das Anwesen Moy.

    Im Jahr 1886 hatte sie 22 Angestellte und produzierte 192.000 Gallonen Whisky pro Jahr, was sie zur größten Brennerei der Stadt machte. Am 9. September 1893 legten Prinzessin Helen von Waldeck und Pyrmont und ihre Familie auf der königlichen Yacht Victoria and Albert in Campbeltown Loch an. Samuel Greenlees von Greenlees and Colvill Ltd. führte sie durch die Brennerei.

    Im Jahr 1921 ging Greenlees & Colvill Ltd. in Liquidation und die Brennerei wurde zum Verkauf angeboten. Sie wurde von Mitchell & Co. gekauft, aber 1926 stillgelegt. Mitchell & Co. besaß zwei weitere Brennereien, darunter die Springbank Distillery.

    Seit 2005 füllt Springbank Distillery einen Whisky namens Hazelburn Single Malt ab.
