1825 gegründet, hatte Edradour wechselnde Besitzer – von der New Yorker Mafia bis zu Andrew Symington, dem Kopf hinter Signatory Vintage. Kaum verändert blieb die Produktion: Edradour arbeitet in großen Teilen wie im 19. Jahrhundert, u.a. mit Original-Equipment. Unter Single-Malt-Fans längst zur Legende geworden, füllt die Highland-Brennerei unter der Marke Ballechin ihre torfigsten Single Malts ab, gebrannt aus Malz mit mindestens 50 ppm Rauchanteil.

Der Ballechin 18 y.o. gehört zu den ältesten Abfüllungen der Marke für Rauch-Fans. Ausgiebig in traditionellen Bourbon Barrels gereift, vermählt er Torfrauch mit Eichenwürze und stellt mit Malzbonbons, exotischen Früchten und warmem Karamell eine köstliche Balance her.
