After a hiatus of 523 years, whiskey is once again flowing from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey. In 2017 the spirit began to flow again from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery and the first single malt whiskey was launched in 2021.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Softly fruity, red apples and pears combined with sweet vanilla, caramel and custard with citrus notes.
Gaumen
Palate		 Vanilla blended with fruits like green cooking apples, citrus with hints of bitterness, covered by woody notes and spicy pepper notes.
Abgang
Finish		 Medium length, persistent finish.

  • Lindores - Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Die Destillation fand offiziell dokumentiert bereits im Jahre 1494 statt, obwohl dies höchstwahrscheinlich schon viel früher geschah.

    Wir wissen dies aufgrund des frühesten schriftlichen Hinweises auf Scotch Whisky (oder Aqua Vitae, wie er damals genannt wurde), der in der Exchequer Roll des gleichen Jahres erscheint. Es wurde ein Friar John Cor, ein Lindores-Mönch, erwähnt, der von König James IV beauftragt wurde, „eight bolls of malt“ in Aqua Vitae umzuwandeln.

    „8 bolls of malt“ entsprechen in der heutigen Zeit etwa 500 kg und hätten ausgereicht, um etwa 400 Flaschen Whisky von heute herzustellen.

    Im Jahr 2017 begann der Geist wieder aus den kupfernen Brennblasen in der Lindores Abbey Distillery zu fließen, und der erste Single Malt Whisky wurde 2021 auf den Markt gebracht.
