This Hatozaki Blended Whiskey comes from the Kaikyo Distillery.

With a minimum malt whiskey content of 40%, this product is a smart choice for highballs and straight pours. It has a subtle roundness with a rich malt whiskey backbone and offers grain notes and a gentle sweetness. It matures for up to 12 years and is produced in a two-stage blending process. It is neither colored nor unchilled filtered.

Unpeated, delicate and floral. It offers a balanced mouthfeel with an aromatic palate and floral notes. The style is elegant and light, with the malted barley giving it great depth.

Whether neat, on the rocks or mixed in a highball, Hatozaki Blended/Finest is perfect for any occasion.

    Die Kaikyo-Brennerei, die für ihre Sake-Produktion bekannt ist, hat anlässlich ihres 100-jährigen Bestehens ihre ersten beiden Whiskys auf den Markt gebracht: einen Hatozaki Blended und einen Pure Malt.

    Die beiden Whiskys wurden von Kimio Yonezawa, dem Master Distiller und Blender von Hatozaki, kreiert, der bisher in Akashi, einer Hafenstadt an der Seto-Binnensee, etwa 30 Minuten westlich von Kobe, Sake herstellte.

    Die Wurzeln der Kaikyo Distillery reichen bis ins Jahr 1856 zurück, als die Familie Yonezawa die Akashi Sake Brewery gründete und sich zunächst auf die Destillation von Reisalkohol spezialisierte.

    Im Jahr 1917 verlagerte sich der Schwerpunkt auf die reine Sake-Produktion, und 2018 beschloss dieselbe Familie Yonezawa, das über 100-jährige Bestehen der Sake-Herstellung zu feiern, indem sie die Whisky-Produktion in einer neuen Brennerei diversifizierte.

    Hatozaki ist nach dem Hatozaki-Leuchtturm benannt, der auf den Etiketten zu sehen ist. Er wurde 1657 erbaut und ist der älteste steinerne Leuchtturm Japans, der die Schiffe sicher in den Hafen von Akashi leiten sollte. Im Jahr 2014 wurde er zum Nationaldenkmal erklärt.
