DESCRIPTION

The Glenturret 8 Year Old by Wilson & Morgan, bottled in 2023 from cask #150000021 with a PX Sherry Finish, showcases as a powerful single malt. Aged in a first fill Pedro Ximenez cask, it features intense colors and profound wine aromas, yet remains exceptionally robust and untamed.

The nose is very smoky, almost coastal-like, enriched with coffee, leather, and damp earth. On the palate, it is equally earthy and leathery, with a touch of oak and a subtle sweetness of raisins.

  • Glenturret - Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenturret Distillery, established in 1775, is one of Scotland's oldest and most respected whisky distilleries, considered a gem in the crown of the Scottish whisky industry. Located in the picturesque Perthshire region, near the town of Crieff, Glenturret is renowned for its artisanal production method and deep-rooted adherence to traditional distillery practices.

The distillery occupies a unique place in Scottish whisky history. It has witnessed and shaped the evolution of the whisky industry across centuries. With its establishment in 1775, Glenturret has earned the reputation of being one of the oldest operating whisky distilleries in Scotland, a title that attracts visitors from around the world.

The location of Glenturret Distillery is idyllic and offers ideal conditions for whisky production. The pure water of the Turret River and the rich local barley production create the perfect foundation for producing high-quality single malt whiskies. These natural resources, combined with traditional expertise, make every drop of Glenturret whisky a true expression of its origin.

The heart of the distillery is its traditional copper pot stills, which are among the smallest in Scotland. These pot stills are crucial for the unique character of Glenturret whisky. They allow for slow and careful distillation, enabling the fine flavors and characteristic taste of the whisky to develop optimally.

Glenturret places great emphasis on tradition and manual craftsmanship. Here, whisky is still largely produced manually, a rarity in modern whisky production. The malt masters and distillers of the distillery closely monitor every step of the production process, from the careful selection of barley to slow fermentation and distillation. This dedication to traditional craftsmanship ensures the high quality and uniqueness of each Glenturret whisky.

Glenturret's range is diverse and appeals to a wide spectrum of whisky enthusiasts. From rich and complex single malts to fresher and lighter expressions, Glenturret offers a selection that invigorates the senses and reflects the rich history and artisanal skill of the distillery.

In addition to producing first-class whisky, the Glenturret Distillery is also a popular tourist destination. Visitors have the opportunity to participate in tours where they can learn more about the distillery's history, see the production process firsthand, and of course, sample the products in tastings. These experiences combine a passion for whisky with a deep understanding of the art and science behind every drop.

  • Wilson & Morgan

Wilson & Morgan, an independent whisky bottler from Italy, has been known since 1992 for offering a fine selection of rare Scotch malt whiskies. The company specializes in single malts that age between 10 and 30 years, sometimes further matured in port, rum, or Marsala casks. These meticulously selected malts are then distributed globally to discerning consumers, including in select outlets, Michelin-starred restaurants, and wine and gourmet shops.

The history of Wilson & Morgan is closely linked with the Venetian Rossi family. In the 1920s, Giuseppe Rossi, a wine and oil merchant and grandfather of today's chairman Fabio Rossi, moved his residence from Venice to Treviso. After World War II, his son Mario expanded the business and began importing whisky from Scotland in the 1960s. Initially, predominantly blended whiskies were introduced until the demand for more sophisticated taste profiles led to the introduction of single malts.

Wilson & Morgan is known for the careful selection and personal inspection of each cask by Fabio Rossi, who mastered the art of winemaking in Conegliano. This precision and trust in one's own palate make Wilson & Morgan a particularly excellent choice for lovers of fine and rare single malts.
