  • Glentauchers - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glentauchers Distillery, located in the Scottish region of Speyside, is a traditional distillery known for its high-quality single malt Scotch whiskies. The distillery is situated near Keith in Moray and was founded in 1897. Today, Glentauchers is part of the Pernod Ricard Group, one of the world's leading companies in the spirits and wine industry.

Glentauchers was founded by James Buchanan and W. P. Lowrie, two well-known figures in the whisky industry. The first distillation took place in 1898. The distillery was designed by the famous architect Charles Doig, known for his innovative designs. Despite facing challenges during the World Wars and Prohibition in the USA, the distillery has consistently recovered and evolved.

A notable feature of Glentauchers is its commitment to traditional distillation methods. The distillery uses traditionally shaped copper stills, known for their impact on the taste and aroma of the whisky. Glentauchers relies on slow distillation to produce an exceptionally pure and complex spirit. The water used for distillation comes from nearby springs and is valued for its purity.

The maturation of Glentauchers whisky takes place in carefully selected oak casks, including both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. These casks impart rich, fruity aromas and complex flavor notes to the whisky. The distillery's warehouses provide ideal conditions for the slow maturation of the whisky, leading to exceptional flavor development.

Although much of Glentauchers whisky is used in blends, particularly in the well-known Ballantine's blends, there are also some single malt bottlings. These bottlings are highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs as they present the subtle and complex aromas of Glentauchers whisky in its purest form.

    Historical Roots and Development

Duncan Taylor was founded in 1938 by Abe Rosenberg and began as a cask trader, selling whisky casks to various distilleries and blending houses in Scotland. Today, Duncan Taylor is known for its extensive collection of rare and old casks, which include a variety of single malts and single grains.

    Quality Philosophy and Craftsmanship

Duncan Taylor's philosophy places great emphasis on quality and authenticity. The company relies on traditional whisky-making methods and focuses on highlighting the character and individuality of each whisky.
