BESCHREIBUNG
The GlenDronach Port Wood is inspired by the historic importation of port in casks into Scotland in the 19th century. In the 1800s, port was 'de rigueur' and many of the finest port wine barrels traveled down the Douro River from Portugal and were destined for the wine cellars of the Scottish nobles intended.

Even though many years have passed, Portugal's majestic Douro Valley is still known for its exceptional port wine. The distillery has selected some of their finest port casks to age The GlenDronach for a second aging period of three years.

The master blender has expertly combined the whiskey from these port casks to create a fruity ten-year-old whiskey that finishes with layers of ripe berries on its signature long, lingering finish.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Waves of victoria plum, blackberry and strawberry jam with top notes of cherry blossom and honeysuckle on a base of sandalwood and ginger.
Gaumen
Palate		 Layers upon layers of rich fruit. Sip on blackberries and baked apple crumble with freshly baked gingerbread that develops into a background of baking orange and black cherry.
Abgang
Finish		 Enjoy orange peel, sultanas and cherry pie that linger into the rich fruity finish.

  • Glendronach - Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Die Glendronach-Brennerei ist eine schottische Whisky-Brennerei in der Nähe von Forgue bei Huntly, Aberdeenshire, im Whisky-Distrikt Highland.

    Die Brennerei wurde 1826 von James Allardes (oft als Allardice bezeichnet) als zweite Brennerei gegründet, die eine Lizenz für die legale Herstellung von Whisky gemäß dem drei Jahre zuvor verabschiedeten Verbrauchsteuergesetz von 1823 beantragte, das die Destillation von Whisky in Schottland erlaubte.

    Die Glendronach-Brennerei wurde um 1960 von Teachers and Sons Ltd. erworben, die die Zahl der Brennblasen von zwei auf sechs erhöhte. Im Jahr 1996 wurde die Brennerei eingemottet und im Jahr 2002 von Allied Distillers Limited wiedereröffnet.

    Im Jahr 2006 ging die Brennerei in den Besitz von Chivas Brothers Ltd (Teil der Pernod Ricard-Gruppe) über und wurde 2008 an die BenRiach Distillery Company verkauft. Weitere namhafte Besitzer waren Walter Scott, der sie 1881 erwarb, und Charles Grant, Sohn des Gründers der Glenfiddich-Brennerei, im Jahr 1920.

    Die Brennerei bezieht ihr Wasser aus dem Dronac-Brand auf dem Gelände der Brennerei. Sie verfügt über eine eigene Mälzerei und zwei Wash Stills sowie zwei Spirit Stills.

    Im April 2016 wurde die Glendronach Distillery von der Brown-Forman Corporation gekauft. Der Kauf umfasste auch die Brennereien BenRiach und Glenglassaugh.
