BESCHREIBUNG
The first issue of Fable deals with the legend of the 'Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay', a tale set on the south west coast of Scotland near Stranraer. Fable has collaborated with artist Hugo Cuellar to create an enchanted world in which label illustrations highlighting characters and scenes form a series of eleven chapters.

Chapter 7, Piper is a 12 Year Old Single Cask, Cask Strength Glen Elgin. Bottled from a Hogshead cask number 801791, distilled in March 2009 and bottled in October 2021. The output is 305 bottles.

The label features an illustration of the piper of the same name from the folk tale "The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay", drawn by artist Hugo Cuellar.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Aromas of honey with a slight smoky sweetness. honey, almonds, cereals. Slightly sour fruits, mint note. Add some nutmeg with a few drops of water.
Gaumen
Palate		 As in the nose, honeycomb, crispy bars, apple and vanilla, cinnamon spice. Cream sorbet, spiced orange peel, green fruit salad, pickled apple.
Abgang
Finish		 Still very soft and smooth, woody spiciness, brown bags, anise spice, dryness.

  • Glen Elgin - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    Die Glen Elgin Distillery schmiegt sich ruhig in das Herz der Speyside. Sie liegt etwa drei Meilen südlich von Elgin an der Straße nach Rothes und war die letzte Destillerie, die in den Boomjahren der 1890er Jahre gebaut wurde. Der ursprüngliche Standort wurde wegen seiner Wasserquelle und der Nähe zur Eisenbahnlinie gewählt. Leider erwies sich die Wasserquelle als unzuverlässig und die Genehmigung für den Bau eines Gleisanschlusses wurde verweigert. Die Brennerei wurde von mehreren Eigentümern weitergeführt, bevor sie in den 1930er Jahren Teil der DCL wurde. Danach wurde sie an White Horse Distillers Ltd. lizenziert. Bis in die 1950er Jahre wurde die Brennerei vollständig mit Petroleum betrieben und beleuchtet. Alle Maschinen wurden von einem Petroleummotor und einer Wasserturbine angetrieben. Es war ein Vollzeitjob, die Petroleumlampen am Brennen zu halten. Heute trägt die Brennerei immer noch stolz das Emblem des Weißen Pferdes und gehört zusammen mit Linkwood, Glenlossie und Mannochmore zur "Elgin Group" der UDV. Der Whisky ist immer noch ein wichtiger Bestandteil des White Horse Blended Whisky, der in über 200 Länder weltweit exportiert wird. Obwohl die Brennerei umfassend renoviert wurde, hat sie sich das Aussehen und die Atmosphäre einer kleinen, traditionellen Brennerei bewahrt. Es gibt keine hochmodernen Computertafeln, und der hochgeschätzte Whisky wird nach wie vor in Handarbeit hergestellt.
