847 nach Christus brach Hrafna-Floki auf, um eine Insel zu finden, über deren Existenz es bisher nur Gerüchte gab. Nach einer langen und strapaziösen Reise betrat der Wikinger das neue Land und taufte es: Island.

Über 1.000 Jahre später erhielt die von Naturschauspielen und atemberaubenden Landschaften geprägte Insel mit Eimverk ihre erste Whisky-Destillerie. Seit 2009 fängt das fünfköpfige Team, angeführt von den Brüdern Haraldur und Egill Gauti Þorkelsson (ausgesprochen: Thorkelsson), mit Flóki Single Malt die vielfältigen Aromen seiner arktischen Heimat ein.

Diese limitierte Erstauflage von Flóki Single Malt ist eine Einzelfassabfüllung, die 3 Jahre lang in ehemaligen Flóki Young Malt Fässern unter dem Berg Hekla gereift ist. Mit seinem subtilen und doch komplexen Geschmack nimmt dieser Malt seine eigene Form der traditionellen Whisky-Erfahrung an und erkundet neue Wege - genau wie Hrafna Flóki selbst.

  • Flóki - Single Malt Icelandic Whisky

    Eimverk is a family-run distillery founded in 2009 with the aim of producing high-quality Icelandic spirits using only local ingredients, and produces three spirits: Flóki, a single malt whisky, Vor, a pot-distilled gin, and Víti, a special version of the Icelandic Brennivín.

    Their whisky, Flóki, is the first of its kind in Iceland; handcrafted over 4 years of 163 trial distillations and maturation tests to ensure the perfect recipe, the distillery uses its own custom-built still to extract the full flavour from the barley and matures the whisky in new American oak casks.

    The result is a complex malt with a unique blend of characteristics found in bourbon, Scotch and Irish whiskies.The Icelandic barley variety is hardy and selected to thrive in the short, intense Icelandic summer. It gives the whisky a sweet maltiness and a blend of spicy notes, and Flóki is the first and only Icelandic whisky to continue the tradition of breaking new ground: The distillery's sheep dung-smoked reserve is the first of its kind in the world.
