BESCHREIBUNG
The hammer mill is located in the Elsbach valley, embedded in the mountain landscape of the southern Harz. Instead of iron ore, the Buchholz family processes another regional raw material here: barley. Since 2002, the spirits manufacturer has stood for Hercynian Single Malt - sophisticated whiskey from the heart of Germany, which has attracted national and international attention ever since. The reason: the extraordinary variety of whiskeys, which are forged with an impressive selection of southern and sweet wine barrels.

The latest work of art from the Harzers: the ElsBurn Port 7 yo From 2014 to 2021, the mild original Hercynian single malt rested in first-fill port hogsheads. The aromatic barrels were filled with Ruby port wine, a particularly strong and fruity variant of the Portuguese liqueur wine. Filled in 660 bottles, the limited special bottling is an exclusive delight. The intensely fruity, complex, sweet experience is underpinned by a robust 65% vol. Cask Strength.

    Seit 2002 bietet die Hercynian Distilling Co. / Hammerschmiede unter der Marke Elsburn eine breite Reihe verschiedener Abfüllungen an Single Malt Whisky aus dem Harz an.

    Bis 2019 war Elsburn übrigens unter dem Namen The Glen Els bekannt. Die Nutzung des Namens Glen Els wurde jedoch nach einem rechtlichen Streit mit der Scotch Whisky Association untersagt, was zur Umbenennung führte.

    Die verschiedenen Elsburn Abfüllungen profitieren dabei von der Nutzung unterschiedlicher Fasstypen, Lagerzeiten und Fassgrößen.

    Es geht dabei grundsätzlich experimentierfreudig zu bei der Hammerschmiede. Denn neben den Klassikern, wie The Journey, der regelmäßig in einer neuen Auflage vertrieben wird, gibt es auch immer wieder tolle Single Cask Abfüllungen und andere limitierte Editionen zu entdecken.
