Bert Bruyneel ist der Gründer von Asta Morris, einem unabhängigen belgischen Abfüller. Nachdem er die ersten 19 Jahre seines Lebens ein Abstinenzler war, begann alles, als ein Freund/Barkeeper ihm 1994 ein Glas Jack Daniels Single Barrel einschenkte.

Berts Interesse an Whisky wurde zu einem Hobby, und aus dem Hobby wurde eine Leidenschaft. Bert war 1999 Mitbegründer der Wee Dram Whisky Society in Belgien, zusammen mit dem Barkeeper, der ihm 5 Jahre zuvor diesen Jack Daniels eingeschenkt hatte.

Im Jahr 2009 gründete Bert auf Anregung von zwei Freunden Asta Morris. Anfangs bestand die einzige Tätigkeit darin, Kolumnen und Artikel für verschiedene Whisky-Magazine zu schreiben und Verkostungen für zwei bekannte belgische Spirituosenimporteure zu veranstalten.

Erst im zweiten Jahr präsentierte Asta Morris seine erste Abfüllung, einen Glenlivet 1977/2010, gefolgt von offiziellen Abfüllungen von Benriach 1978 und 1975 "for Asta Morris". In dieser Serie sollten ein 1977er, ein 1979er und ein 1983er folgen. Dies war nur dank einer alten persönlichen Freundschaft mit Billy Walker möglich, die begann, als Billy Benriach übernommen hatte.
