Kaum einer ermöglicht das auf einem so hohen Niveau wie Compass Box. John Glaser und Team erschaffen Texturen und Aromen, die ein einzelner Whisky oft nicht erreichen kann. Für ihre Luxus-Blends kombinieren die „Whiskymaker“ hochqualitative Single Malt und Single Grain Whiskys aus dem eigenen Fasslager in Schottland.

Mit Delos legt Compass Box nach Ultramarine die zweite Abfüllung des „The Extinct Blends Quartet“ vor. Das Quartett ist inspiriert von in Vergessenheit geratenen Geschmacksrichtungen, die Compass Box auf Grundlage einiger seiner wertvollsten Whisky-Bestände neu aufleben lässt.

Das Vorbild für Delos: der 2018 eingestellte Compass Box Asyla. Den lebhaften Charakter des Blends lässt man nun wiederauferstehen. Dazu tragen alte und rare Whisky-Komponenten bei. Den Malt-Anteil liefern die Brennereien Glen Elgin, Imperial und Miltonduff mit Noten von exotischen Früchten und Vanille aus amerikanischer Eiche. Üppiger und duftender Grain Whisky von Cameronbridge bewahrt das zarte Mundgefühl, einst Markenzeichen von Asyla.

Wer sich fragt, warum man Asyla nicht neu auflegt: Wie von antiken Mosaiken, etwa der griechischen Insel Delos, fehlen zu viele Teile, um den Blended Scotch als dauerhaften Bestandteil der Range zu restaurieren.

TASTING NOTES
Nose Süße Saftigkeit legt sich in sanften Wellen von reifer Birne, Ananas, Orangenöl und Vanillecreme über die Nase.
Palate Ein Zusammenspiel von Fruchttörtchen und weißer Schokolade schmeichelt dem Gaumen, während die Reife der einzelnen Whiskys allmählich Guave, Heidekraut, Honig und Chai-Gewürze zum Vorschein bringt.
