DESCRIPTION
1.345 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel beginnt die Reise einer zentralen Zutat für Ben Nevis Whisky: Wasser. Auf seinem Weg vom Gipfel des höchsten Berges Schottlands wird es durch Torf gefiltert, fließt unter Granit und über Stein – etwa durch die atemberaubenden Felsformationen des Coire Leis.

Dem kleinen See ist eine von zwei langersehnten Originalabfüllungen der Ben Nevis Distillery gewidmet. Nur sporadisch kommen „distillery bottlings“ auf den Markt, wenige davon auf den europäischen. Jetzt gibt es endlich Nachschub – im neuen, minimalistischen Gewand.

Ben Nevis Coire Leis reift ausschließlich in First Fill Bourbon Casks und ist ein wunderbarer Single Malt für Einsteiger. Ölig und cremig, mit Birne, Aprikose, Karamell und Eichenwürze zeigt er sich von der charakteristischen Seite. Und zwar gänzlich ohne Kühlfiltration oder Farbstoff.

TASTING NOTES
Nose Zitronenschalen, Orangen, blumige Honig- und Kräuternoten, süßes Malz und Buttergebäck mit Hafer und Vanille.
Palate Obstgarten, Steinobst und Karamell, zuckrige Gerste, gewürzter Früchtebrot und geröstete Eiche mit Zimt und Chili.
Finish Neben kräftigem Malz und Bratapfel setzt sich die Backwürze fort.
