    In Anlehnung an den Pioniergeist der ersten lizenzierten Brennereien Schottlands hat The Glasgow Distillery Company ihren Namen von einer der ursprünglichen Brennereien in Glasgow übernommen. Im Jahr 1770 wurde die Glasgow Distillery Company in Dundashill gegründet und blieb bis zur Schließung Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert.

    Im Jahr 2014 wurde die Glasgow Distillery Company wiedereröffnet und war damit die erste Single Malt Whisky-Brennerei in Glasgow seit über 100 Jahren. Die Glasgow Distillery Company stellt die Tradition des metropolitanen schottischen Malt Whiskys neben den großen Whiskyregionen wieder her und erweckt Glasgow Malt Whisky wieder zum Leben.

    Die Gründer Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward und Ian McDougall hoffen, dass die Gründung der ersten Glasgow Distillery den Beginn eines neuen Zeitalters der Destillation in Glasgow einläutet.
