DESCRIPTION

The Glenlossie 2010, carefully selected by Wilson & Morgan for their "Barrel Selection - Cask Strength" series, is an outstanding example of Scottish craftsmanship. This single malt was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2023 after a 12-year maturation, including a 30-month finish in a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt. With cask numbers 10866 and 10867, and a limited edition of only 569 bottles, this whisky presents an alcohol strength of 54.5% ABV.

This exceptional Scotch is distinguished by its deep integration of sherry influences, seamlessly blending with the delicate, fruity, and nutty characteristics of Glenlossie malt. The flavor palette includes rich notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and subtle spice, highlighted by the sherry cask. On the palate, the whisky offers a complex structure with hints of oak, vanilla, and a long-lasting, warming finish.

  • Glenlossie - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenlossie Distillery, located in the Speyside region near Elgin, Scotland, is a renowned distillery known for its high-quality single malt Scotch whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1876 by John Duff, a former manager of the GlenDronach Distillery. Glenlossie has secured its place in the Scottish whisky landscape through its exceptional craftsmanship and the use of traditional distillation methods.

Glenlossie began its journey in whisky production under the leadership of John Duff and a consortium of businessmen. The distillery quickly developed and gained a reputation for producing high-quality whiskies. In 1919, Glenlossie was acquired by the Distillers Company Limited (DCL), which later became part of Diageo, one of the world's leading beverage manufacturers.

Glenlossie uses traditionally shaped copper stills, known for their influence on the taste and aroma of the whisky. A notable feature of the distillery is the use of "purifiers" on the spirit stills, which increase the reflux and produce a lighter and finer whisky. This technique significantly contributes to Glenlossie's distinctive character.

The maturation of Glenlossie whisky takes place in carefully selected oak casks that previously held bourbon or sherry. These casks impart complex aromas of vanilla, honey, dried fruits, and spicy notes to the whisky. The distillery's warehouses provide ideal conditions for the slow maturation of the whisky, leading to exceptional flavor development.

Glenlossie mainly produces single malt whiskies, which are used both as standalone bottlings and in blends. Some of the most notable own bottlings include Glenlossie 10 Years and special limited editions, which are highly appreciated by collectors and connoisseurs alike. Glenlossie whiskies are known for their balance, elegance, and complexity.

The Glenlossie Distillery plays an important role in the whisky industry, particularly in the Speyside region, which is famous for its concentration of high-quality whisky producers. The distillery contributes to the diversity and excellence of Scottish whisky production and remains a symbol of traditional craftsmanship and continuous innovation.

The Glenlossie Distillery offers visitors the opportunity to experience the art of whisky making firsthand. Tours of the distillery provide deep insights into the production process, the history of the distillery, and the unique characteristics of its whiskies. This makes Glenlossie an attractive destination for whisky enthusiasts and tourists.

Wilson & Morgan: An Insight into a Renowned Whisky Bottler

Wilson & Morgan, an independent whisky bottler from Italy, has been known since 1992 for its fine selection of rare Scotch Malt Whiskies. The company specializes in Single Malts that age between 10 and 30 years and are sometimes finished in Port, Rum, or Marsala casks. These meticulously selected malts are then delivered worldwide to discerning consumers, including selected Michelin-starred restaurants and wine and gourmet shops.

History and Origin of Wilson & Morgan

The history of Wilson & Morgan is closely linked with the Venetian Rossi family. In the 1920s, wine and oil trader Giuseppe Rossi, the grandfather of current chairman Fabio Rossi, moved from Venice to Treviso. After World War II, his son Mario expanded the business and began importing whisky from Scotland in the 1960s. Initially, mainly blended whiskies were imported until the demand for more sophisticated flavor profiles led to the introduction of Single Malts.

    Philosophy and Craftsmanship

The philosophy of Wilson & Morgan is based on the careful selection and personal assessment of each cask bottling by Fabio Rossi. Rossi, who studied the art of winemaking in Conegliano, uses his extensive knowledge and refined palate to select the best casks. This precision and trust in his own taste make Wilson & Morgan an outstanding choice for lovers of fine and rare Single Malts.

The Range of Wilson & Morgan

Wilson & Morgan offers a wide range of whiskies from various regions of Scotland. These whiskies age between 10 and 30 years and often benefit from a finishing period in special casks such as Port, Rum, or Marsala casks. This practice imparts additional depth and complexity to the whiskies, which is highly appreciated by connoisseurs. Particularly noteworthy are the limited editions, which are offered in selected Michelin-starred restaurants and wine and gourmet shops worldwide.

    Exclusive Bottlings and Rarities

Part of Wilson & Morgan's range includes exclusive bottlings from rare casks, available in limited quantities. These whiskies are distinguished by their high quality and complexity and are valued by collectors and connoisseurs for their uniqueness. Finishing in various cask types, such as Port, Rum, or Marsala casks, creates a diverse array of flavors and nuances that make each whisky unique.
