  • Lindores - Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Lindores Abbey Distillery is located in Newburgh, Fife, Scotland, and is known for its deep-rooted history that dates back to 1494 when the first written mention of Scottish whisky was recorded here. The current distillery was reopened in 2017 after being dormant for over 500 years. The revival was initiated by Drew and Helen McKenzie Smith, whose family has owned the site since 1912.

Lindores produces various single malts, with the first release in 2021. Particularly popular are the Lindores Single Malt MCDXCIV and the Lindores Single Malt Bourbon Cask, both known for their rich, malty, and fruity flavor notes. The distillery uses local barley grown in the surrounding area, and the water comes from the same well used in the 15th century. These ingredients and traditional production methods give the whisky its distinctive character.

Distillation takes place in traditional copper pot stills, and maturation occurs in a mix of bourbon, sherry, and wine casks to create a wide range of flavor profiles. Lindores places a strong emphasis on sustainability, utilizing local resources to minimize environmental impact.

The whiskies from Lindores Abbey Distillery are characterized by a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, with notes of vanilla, honey, and dried fruits resulting from the influence of various cask types. The distillery has quickly made a name for itself for producing high-quality and innovative whisky.
