The Midleton Distillery, located in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, is one of the most significant and technologically advanced distilleries in the world. Founded in 1975, it is part of Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Besides producing the globally renowned Jameson Irish Whiskey, the distillery also houses other notable brands like Redbreast, Powers, and the highly esteemed Midleton Very Rare series.

The Midleton Very Rare series, first introduced in 1984, is the flagship of the distillery. Each year, a new edition of this limited series is released, known for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship. These whiskies are characterized by complex and rich flavor profiles, often featuring notes of vanilla, oak, honey, and a hint of spices.

Another remarkable product from the distillery is the Method and Madness series, an innovative range that combines traditional whiskey-making techniques with modern experiments. This series includes unusual cask maturations and various grain blends, offering unique taste experiences.

The Midleton Distillery employs state-of-the-art production methods, including the largest pot stills in Ireland, each with a capacity of up to 80,000 liters. The distillery has recently undergone extensive expansions and modernizations to meet the growing demand for Irish whiskey. With a production capacity of over 64 million liters per year, Midleton is one of the largest distilleries in the world.

In addition to the modern production facilities, the historic Old Midleton Distillery, dating back to the early 19th century, offers insight into the rich history of Irish whiskey-making. This distillery is now a museum and visitor center, attracting thousands of whiskey enthusiasts annually.

Midleton whiskies are known for their high quality and careful selection of ingredients. They primarily use non-peated malt, and the water comes from the nearby Dungourney River, giving the whiskies a particularly pure and mild character. This combination of tradition and innovation makes Midleton a key player in the world of whiskey.
