  • Glen Grant - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glen Grant distillery, founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant in Rothes, Speyside, is one of the world's leading single malt Scotch whisky distilleries and is particularly well known for its bestsellers in Italy. Over the years, the distillery has undergone several changes of ownership and has been part of the Campari Group since 2006. Glen Grant is known for its light, fresh whiskies, which are mainly matured in ex-bourbon and refill casks, which emphasises the finesse of the whisky. Ex-sherry casks, which once characterised Glen Grant, are now rarely found at the distillery, but remain a hallmark of Gordon & MacPhail bottlings.

The distillery has had an eventful history, including a merger with Glenlivet in the 1970s and a takeover by the Campari Group in 2006. Despite the many changes and takeovers, Glen Grant remains the only single malt distillery still bearing the name of its founders. Today, Glen Grant is not only known for its highly rated single malts, but also as an important part of the Chivas blends.

Glen Grant's production capacity is impressive and runs at full capacity all year round due to the dual production of single malts and blends. The water for this large-scale production comes from the nearby Caperdonich well. Eight powerful stills are at the heart of Glen Grant's production, with the distinctive shape of the stills responsible for the light flavour of the whisky.

Glen Grant operates an excellent visitor centre which welcomes over 10,000 visitors a year and offers tours of the distillery. The distillery offers a core range of official bottlings, including a 10 year old, a 16 year old and the Major's Reserve, as well as an extensive vintage collection. Gordon & McPhail plays a significant role in the history of Glen Grant and continues the tradition of offering bottlings from older casks.
