DESCRIPTION

Der Harz ist nicht nur Standort des höchsten Gebirges Norddeutschlands, sondern seit 2002 auch Quelle für höchsten Single-Malt-Genuss. Dafür verantwortlich: die Hercynian Distilling Co.

Von Hand, stets unverfälscht, mit traditionellen Methoden und großer Experimentierfreude produziert der Familienbetrieb eine beeindruckende Range an Hercynian Single Malt Whiskys. In der Vielzahl an erstbefüllten Süd- und Süßweinfässern der Brennerei reifen sie zu hoch aromatischen Drams heran.

Für den Beweis tritt nun der ElsBurn Rivesaltes Casks an. Der limitierte Single Malt reifte vollständig in Fässern, die zuvor Rivesaltes Wein aus den französischen Pyrenäen enthielten.

Als „Vin Doux Naturel“ zählt er zu den Starkweinen, deren Gärung durch Zugabe von Alkohol gestoppt wird, um die Restsüße zu erhalten. Im Harzer Whisky hinterlässt er köstliche Spuren von Honig, Trockenfrüchten und Nougat.
