DESCRIPTION

Mit der Gründung der Glasgow Distillery zog 2014 nach mehr als 100 Jahren wieder eine Whiskybrennerei in die schottische Hafenstadt ein. Heute ist die Glasgow Distillery eine von wenigen urbanen Brennereien Schottlands, die sich der Herstellung von Single Malt Whisky widmen. Und zwar unabhängig, innovativ, mit fünf kupfernen Pot Stills aus deutscher Herstellung und feinster schottischer Gerste.

Dass es ihr nachhaltig gelingt, ein neues Whiskykapitel in die Geschichte ihrer Heimatstadt zu brennen, beweist die Glasgow Distillery u.a. mit abwechslungsreichen Small-Batch-Abfülllungen. Der 1770 Glasgow 2018/2022 – Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish ist das bislang experimentellste Release der Glaswegians: Erstmals wurden zwei Spirituosenstile kombiniert, die jeweils zwei unterschiedliche Reifungsprozesse durchlaufen haben.

Getorfter Single Malt reifte in Virgin Oak Casks und erhielt ein Finish in Bordeaux-Rotweinfässern, während dreifach destillierter Single Malt in First Fill Bourbon Casks lagerte und in Ruby Port Casks veredelt wurde.

Aus insgesamt sechs Fässern, die die urbanen Brenner Ende 2022 miteinander vermählten, wurden 1.925 Flaschen mit 57,5% vol. ohne Kältefiltration und in natürlicher Farbe abgefüllt.
