DESCRIPTION

Beim Anblick des Portfolios der Thompson Bros. denkt man nicht an einen Ort von der Größe einer Garage. Die winzige, private Feuerwache des Dornoch Castle ist dennoch das Zuhause der Marke. Und ihrer Mikrodestillerie. Phil und Simon Thompson sowie drei Mitarbeiter*innen stehen hinter dem unabhängigen Abfüller sowie der 2016 gegründeten Dornoch Distillery.

Ihre Leidenschaft für Whisky entwickelten die Brüder im elterlichen Hotelbetrieb im Dornoch Castle. Hier etablierten sie eine weit über die Highlands hinaus bekannte Whiskybar und verknüpften ihren Namen mit handverlesenen Premium-Bottlings.

Dieser Whisky ist ein Blended Malt, der fast ausschließlich aus getorftem Single Malt einer nicht genannten Brennerei (Räusper.... Laphroaig.... Räusper) besteht und vom unabhängigen Abfüller Thompson Bros. abgefüllt wurde.

Er wurde 12 Jahre lang in einem Sherryfass gereift, bevor er mit angenehmen 50 % ABV ohne Zusatz von Farbe oder Kältefiltration abgefüllt wurde.

Es ist ein lebendiger, komplexer Dram, der sich zur herzhaften Seite hin neigt. Das Etikett wurde von dem schottischen Illustrator KMG gestaltet.

TASTING NOTES
Nose Eingelegte Walnüsse, geräucherter Fasan, fett und reichhaltig. Einige alte passive Sherry-Noten. Zigarre endet mit Mineralität, alten Büchern und Nelken.
Palate Nelkenöl, Eukalyptus, eingelegte Salzlake, geräucherte Ananassalsa.
Finish Menthol, Rolling Tobacco, trockener (getorfter) Herd, Sandelholz, Kampfer, Chiliöl
