The Hellyers Road Distillery is renowned for consistently producing some of the finest Australian single malt whiskies and leading the way in peated whisky expressions. It is revered worldwide, yet always remains true to its location. It all began near a town called Burnie - a stunning landscape on the northwest coast of Tasmania. The path was once bushland - bush cleared in 1827 by Henry Hellyer, an explorer and cartographer tasked with mapping this rugged and naturally beautiful landscape.
The idea for the distillery itself came from a community of like-minded dairy farmers who realized in 1997 that their environment was perfect for sourcing pure and high-quality ingredients. With a reputation for having the world's freshest air, purest water, and best natural resources, the decision to produce whisky in northwest Tasmania was inevitable. By 1999, the distillery was completed and the signature spirit was distilled with great enthusiasm and passion.
Fast forward to today. Hellyers Road produces premium whiskies with a wide range of flavors, from rich and decadent to lighter and aromatic varieties - whiskies of exceptional quality and recognition. The whiskies are available in more than 20 countries, and the demand for them means that many of our most popular whisky varieties are already sold out near their homeland.
In 2015, Hellyers Road was the best-selling artisanal whisky producer in Australia.
