DESCRIPTION

Im Jahr 2000 arbeitete John Glaser für eine große britische Brennerei, als er feststellte: In der Welt des schottischen Whiskys schlummert riesiges Potenzial – abseits von „so haben wir das schon immer gemacht“. Also beschloss der in London lebende US-Amerikaner, Scotch Whisky neu zu entdecken und die Freuden des Lebenswassers mehr Menschen zugänglich zu machen. Das Mittel? Blends und Blended Malts der Luxus-Klasse.

Nur drei Jahre später brachte Compass Box (damals exklusiv für den Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York) eine seiner bis heute beliebtesten Abfüllungen zu Genießern: The Peat Monster. Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum ist das torfige Kraftpaket für kurze Zeit in Fassstärke verfügbar.

The Peat Monster Cask Strength vereint gefeierte Malt Whiskys der Brennereien Caol Ila und „Williamson“ von der Südküste Islays. Die besondere Verbindung zu den USA betont Compass Box zudem mit einem Teil-Finish in Custom Virgin American Oak Barrels aus Missouri, die man für kurze Zeit mit Grain Spirit impfte. Ergebnis: kräftige Vanille- und Zimtnoten mit rußigem Grill-Rauch, Seetang, Salz und Zitrusnoten.
