DESCRIPTION

Über 30 Kilometer liegen zwischen den Küsten von England und Frankreich im Ärmelkanal. Das Wasser ist kalt, tief und stark befahren. Alex und Nick Ravenhall, zwei Brüder aus Neuseeland, und fünf seetaugliche Freund*innen hat das nicht von ihrem Vorhaben abgeschreckt: den Kanal schwimmend zu durchqueren – mit Bimber Single Malt Whisky im Gepäck.

Nur 12 Stunden und 58 Minuten hat das Team für seinen „Whiskyschmuggel“ von Dover nach Calais gebraucht. Die abenteuerlichen Drams füllte Bimber zurück ins Fass und finishte sie zu der Limited Edition The Channel. 292 Flaschen hat die mutige Abfüllung ergeben, die zunächst in Bourbon Casks reifte und von den Londoner Craft-Brennern im aromatischen Madeira Cask Nr. 109/4 veredelt wurde.

Der Single Malt London Whisky ist aufmerksamkeitsstark designt. Und aufmerksam soll er auch machen – darauf, wie gefährdet die wunderschönen Wasserwege der Erde sind. Daher unterstützt die Abfüllung die Meeresschutzorganisation Sea Shepherd, mit der die Ravenhall-Brüder u.a. auch in ihrer Heimat für den Schutz der in Neuseeland heimischen Maui-Delfine zusammenarbeiten.
