DESCRIPTION

  • Amrut - Single Malt Indian Whisky

Amrut Distilleries Ltd, an Indian company renowned for its eponymous single malt whisky brand, Amrut, has revolutionized the perception of Indian whisky on the global stage. The name 'Amrut,' which translates to 'nectar of life' in Sanskrit, perfectly encapsulates the essence of this exquisite whisky, which holds the distinction of being the first single malt produced in India.

Gaining international acclaim after receiving high praise from renowned whisky connoisseur Jim Murray in 2005 and 2010, Amrut has firmly established itself as a premium whisky brand. Murray's accolade of the Amrut Fusion Single Malt Whisky as the third-best whisky in the world in 2010 was a significant milestone, changing how connoisseurs worldwide view Indian whisky.

John Hansell, editor of Whisky Advocate, noted that Amrut Distillery has altered the way many think about Indian whisky, moving away from the perception of it being merely a blend of cheap Scotch and unknown additives. Amrut's whiskies are crafted with excellence, showcasing the rich and diverse flavors of India.

Despite the fame garnered by its single malt, Amrut Distilleries' revenue in 2011/12 was predominantly from the sale of brandy, rum, vodka, gin, and blended whisky, including popular brands like Silver Oak Brandy, Old Port Rum, and Prestige Whisky. However, the single malt remains a prestigious symbol of the company's dedication to quality and innovation.

Today, Amrut Single Malt Whisky is available in 23 countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, reflecting its global appeal and the growing interest in premium Indian whiskies.
