The West Cork Rum Finish Small Batch - Cask Strength with an alcohol content of 54.7% is an Irish Single Malt Whiskey that highlights the creativity and innovation of West Cork Distillers.

This limited special edition, bottled exclusively for the German market, showcases the versatility of Irish whiskey. After aging for four years in first-fill bourbon barrels, the whiskey was further matured for six months in rum casks from Panama. The result is a small batch that develops aromas of honey, vanilla, and chocolate, which evolve into roasted coffee notes, accompanied by exotic fruit flavors and a hint of coconut.

  • West Cork - Irish Whiskey

    West Cork Distillers wurde 2003 von den drei engen Freunden Denis McCarthy, Ger McCarthy und John O'Connell in Union Hall, West Cork, Irland, gegründet und wurde von der stolzen Geschichte der handwerklichen Lebensmittel- und Getränkeproduktion in Cork inspiriert.

    Die ersten Versuche von WCD mit der Destillation betrafen jedoch nicht den Whiskey, sondern leichtere braune Spirituosen.

    Im Jahr 2007 stellte das Trio Dromberg her, indem es die Gärung von Zuckerrüben und Malz verstärkte, bevor es Eichenholzspäne nach einer von O'Connell in der Garage von Dennis McCarthy in Union Hall entwickelten Methode einbrachte.

    Danach folgte Lough Hyne, der nach dem gleichen Verfahren hergestellt, aber mit bis zu 30 Prozent Alkohol angereichert und in irischer und Bourbon-Eiche gereift wurde.

    Es dauerte jedoch nicht lange, bis West Cork Distillers seine beliebten und herrlich unkonventionellen frühen Bemühungen um eine beeindruckende Palette irischer Whiskys erweitert hatte, darunter West Cork 10 Year Old Single Malt; West Cork Original und der ziemlich brillante The Pogues Whiskey, eine Zusammenarbeit mit der gleichnamigen Punk-Folk-Band.
