DESCRIPTION

Ein sehr seltenes Beispiel für Islay-Whisky in diesem Alter. Er wurde 1968 destilliert und ist eine Kombination aus fünf Sherry-Butts, die für das letzte Jahr miteinander vermählt wurden. Ein außergewöhnlich komplexer Whisky, der jedem Islay-Fan schmecken wird. Die Destillation auf Islay in den 1960er Jahren ist berühmt dafür, dass sie großartige Spirituosen voller tropischer Fruchtaromen hervorbringt, was Whiskys wie diesen zu einem unglaublich seltenen Genuss macht.

TASTING NOTES
Nose Noch bevor man ihn schmeckt, werden die Sinne von vollen, dicken, reifen Früchten und schwerem, süßem, klebrigem Nektar erfüllt. Ein Hauch von Menthol deutet auf die lange Reifung dieses Whiskys hin.
Palate Reichhaltige Navel-Orangen und fleischige Mango sitzen auf einem dichten und wärmenden Gaumen, mit Aromen, die an grünen Tee, Minzblätter und tropische Früchte erinnern. Die Aromen sind unglaublich gut ausbalanciert und zeichnen sich durch Eleganz und Ausgewogenheit aus.
Finish Sauber und lang mit sorgfältig ausbalancierter Mineralität.

  • Port Askaig - Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    The Port Askaig Distillery is a collection of single malt whiskies distilled on the Scottish island of Islay and bottled under the brand name Port Askaig. The brand was established in 2009 by independent bottlers Elixir Distillers. These bottlers carefully select what they believe to be the most balanced single malts from the island to market under the Port Askaig name.

    Port Askaig is named after a small but significant village on the northeastern coast of Islay, known as the gateway to the island. Port Askaig whiskies reflect the unique character of Islay, known for its smoky, maritime notes and a certain fruitiness. The whiskies are non-chill filtered and contain no color additives to provide an unadulterated Islay experience.

    Popular releases include the Port Askaig 8 Year Old, appreciated for its fresh, peaty notes and slight saltiness. The Port Askaig 17 Year Old offers a deeper complexity with a combination of sweet and smoky aromas. The Cask Strength editions are also highly sought after and provide a more intense flavor experience.

    The production methods at Port Askaig are characterized by careful cask selection and artisanal craftsmanship. Maturation takes place in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks, giving the whiskies their multi-layered flavor profiles. Each cask is selected by Master Blender Oliver Chilton to capture the essence of Islay and the coastal influences in every drop.
