DESCRIPTION
Extrem wenig Single Malt bei extrem hoher Nachfrage – der Single Farm Estate Whisky von Daftmill in der Zusammenfassung. Auf der Daftmill Farm in den schottischen Lowlands dreht sich eigentlich alles um Kühe, Kartoffeln, Karotten und den Anbau von Braugerste. Seit 2006 verarbeitet die Familie Cuthbert die eigene Gerste jedoch auch zu Single Malt. Dieser wird in sehr kleinen Mengen von zum Teil nicht mehr als 100 Fässern im Jahr gebrannt. Und zwar ausschließlich in der Nebensaison (Juni und Juli sowie im Winter), wenn weder Kartoffeln gepflanzt noch Gerste gesät werden muss.

Jetzt hat die Farmbrennerei ihren bislang ältesten Single Malt abgefüllt. Der Daftmill 15 y.o. gehört zu den ersten Whiskys, die die Cuthberts destillierten. Die Chariot-Gerste für den Lowland Whisky erntete Francis Cuthbert am 31. August 2004 auf den Feldern seiner Farm. Sie gehörte zu den letzten Chargen, die noch vor Schließung von Robert Kilgour & Co. in der lokalen Traditionsmälzerei verarbeitet wurden. 28 First Fill Bourbon Barrels konnten schließlich zum Daftmill 15 y.o. abgefüllt werden – und zwar in Fassstärke.
