DESCRIPTION

The Starward X Lagavulin Limited Edition Release is an exciting creation from the Australian Starward Distillery, known for its innovative and unconventional whiskies. Inspired by the diversity and culinary richness of its hometown Melbourne, Starward has crafted a Single Malt Australian Whisky made entirely from local ingredients. The maturation in barrels from renowned Down Under wineries, combined with Melbourne's changeable weather, contributes to a unique flavor development.

For the Starward X Lagavulin, the whisky underwent additional maturation in peated whisky casks from the world-famous Lagavulin Distillery after completing its characteristic maturation in red wine casks. This special finishing process in Islay casks lasted an additional 18 months, giving the Australian Single Malt an exciting and complex flavor profile. The whisky combines tropical notes of nectarine and dark roasted pineapple with strong, earthy coastal peat and a smoldering, dry oak finish.

With an alcohol content of 48%, this limited edition is a tribute to Australian curiosity and Scottish tradition, bringing together the best of both worlds. The official tasting notes describe aromas of yellow nectarine and pineapple with a hint of iodine on the nose, while the palate initially features very tropical notes such as char-grilled pineapple and black tea, followed by a touch of brine. The finish is characterized by drying ash but continues with tropical fruits and a touch of oak.

Packaged in a high-quality box in Lagavulin green with embossing, this edition represents not only Starward's possibly most exciting bottling to date but also provides a preview of the new design from the Australians. This edition is an exciting addition for collectors and lovers of exceptional whiskies who enjoy seeing the boundaries of whisky making expanded.

  • Starward - Australian Whisky
