Bis zu 80 Jahre lang bleiben die ausgewählten Destillate renommierter schottischer Brennereien in den Fässern, bevor Gordon & MacPhail ihre Liebhaber-Abfüllungen in verschiedenen Kollektionen veröffentlichen.

Ihre "Private Collection" bietet eine wirklich außergewöhnliche und einzigartige Auswahl an stark gereiften Single Malts aus einer Mischung von berühmten, wenig bekannten und inzwischen geschlossenen Brennereien in ganz Schottland.

Diese seltene Abfüllung wurde 1982 in der heute bereits geschlossenen Destillerie St Magdalene destilliert. Der Whisky wurde 39 Jahre in Refill American Hogshead gereift und im Dezember 2021 mit 54,8%-vol abgefüllt. Nur 165 Stück sind weltweit erhältlich.

St. Magdalene - Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Die manchmal auch als "Linlithgow" bezeichnete St. Magdalene's Distillery wird oft als eine der großen verlorenen Brennereien der 1980er Jahre angesehen.
Als Opfer von Überproduktion und strategischer Neuausrichtung ist der größte Teil des Geländes heute nicht mehr vorhanden, da es in den frühen 1990er Jahren in Wohnhäuser umgewandelt wurde.
Die St. Magdalene-Brennerei befand sich in Linlithgow, in den mittleren Lowlands. Wahrscheinlich 1765 gegründet, wurde hier etwas mehr als zweihundert Jahre lang ein für die Lowlands außergewöhnlicher Single Malt hergestellt.
Außergewöhnlich deshalb, weil St. Magdalene Single Malt Whisky beim Mälzen getorft wurde, was nicht gerade typisch für die Region im Süden Schottlands ist, die für ihre milden, weichen Whiskys bekannt ist.
