DESCRIPTION
Basil Hayden Sr. - den nachfolgenden Generationen als Old Grand-Dad bekannt - stellte Bourbon nach seinen Vorstellungen her. Er wandte sich gegen den traditionellen "grain" der Zeit und entschied sich dafür, seinen Bourbon mit einem höheren Anteil an Roggen zu destillieren.

Diese Art der Herstellung von Bourbon hat er wahrscheinlich an seinen Sohn weitergegeben. Und der wiederum an seinen Enkel. Das war Colonel R.B. Hayden, der seinen Bourbon zu Recht nach seinem alten Großvater benennen würde. Das Rezept ist auch heute noch von Basils Original inspiriert, mit komplexen Aromen und einer unverwechselbaren Würze. Der Bourbon wurde erstmals 1882 abgefüllt und hat sich bis heute kaum verändert.

TASTING NOTES
Nose Dunkle Süßigkeiten wie Karamell und Karamellbonbons, gefolgt von Vanille, karamellisierten Früchten, Gewürzen, Eiche und rohem Getreide. Ein Hauch von pflanzlichem Wachs versteckt sich im Hintergrund.
Palate Karamell, Eiche, Gewürze und Vanille machen den Großteil des Geschmacks aus, wobei gegen Ende leichte Noten von weißem Pfeffer und Leder auftauchen.
Finish Langer Abgang mit Karamell, Eiche, Gewürzen, Vanille und einer leichten Getreidenote.

  • Old Grand-Dad - American Bourbon Whiskey

    Old Grand-Dad is a bourbon whiskey brand distilled at the Jim Beam Plant in Clermont, Kentucky. Basil Hayden Sr. - known to subsequent generations as "Old Grand-Dad" - crafted bourbon according to his own vision.

    He diverged from the traditional grain mix of the time and chose to distill his bourbon with a higher proportion of rye. This method of bourbon production was likely passed down to his son, and then to his grandson, Colonel R.B. Hayden, who rightfully named his bourbon after his old grandfather.

    The recipe is still inspired by Basil's original, featuring complex flavors and a distinctive spiciness. The bourbon was first bottled in 1882 and has changed little to this day. And that's the only way we want it.
