DESCRIPTION

The "The Open Special Edition 2024" single malt whisky gift set was developed in collaboration with Colin Montgomerie and honors The Open 2024. It includes a single malt aged in American oak casks and finished in Chardonnay wine casks, creating flavors of honey blossom, vibrant orchard fruit, and toasted oak, complemented by soft smoke on the finish.

The set contains a 70cl bottle of "Open Special Edition 2024" whisky and two limited edition tumblers featuring the branding of Loch Lomond Distillery and The Open. This set not only pays tribute to the 152nd Open at Royal Troon, Scotland, but also reflects the influence of French Chardonnay casks on the renowned style of Loch Lomond.

Presented in an attractive gift box bearing the Loch Lomond Whiskies logo and Colin Montgomerie's signature, this set offers an excellent opportunity to experience the unique taste and style of Loch Lomond whisky.

  • Loch Lomond - Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

    The Loch Lomond Distillery is located in Alexandria, Scotland, and was founded in 1966. The distillery is known for its innovation and flexibility in whisky production. It uses both traditional pot stills and unique straight neck stills, allowing for a wide range of flavor profiles. The distillery produces single malt, single grain, and blended whiskies.

    Popular releases include the Loch Lomond 12 Year Old, Inchmurrin 12 Year Old, and Inchmoan 12 Year Old. These whiskies are characterized by fruity notes, sweet honey, and a hint of smoke, making them particularly versatile and accessible. The 18-year-old Loch Lomond is also highly regarded, offering a complex blend of ripe fruits, vanilla, and a slightly spicy note.

    Historically, the distillery was founded by Duncan Thomas and the American company Barton Brands. After several ownership changes and modernizations, it is now part of the Loch Lomond Group, which also includes the Glen Scotia Distillery. An interesting fact is that the Loch Lomond brand became known through the comic series "Tintin" by Hergé, although the brand mentioned in the series was independently invented and not related to the real distillery.

    Loch Lomond whiskies mature in a mix of bourbon, sherry, and wine casks, contributing to their complexity and depth.
