DESCRIPTION

Emperor's Way Otto I. (the child) - First Duke of Brunswick, is a Peated Hercynian Single Malt Whisky with an alcohol content of 59.8%. This highly limited edition from the brand Emperor’s Way was created in honor of historical kings and emperors and commemorates the Harzer Kaiserweg. The whisky is named after Otto I., the first Duke of Brunswick, an important ancestor of European nobility.

This single malt is made 100% from local barley, dried over Lower Saxon peat to a smoke content of up to 35 ppm. It is fully matured in First Fill Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry Casks, giving the whisky a remarkable aromatic density. The flavor profile is characterized by a combination of peat smoke, raisins, fruitcake, mandarins, chocolate, and malt. Additional notes include roasted nuts, gingerbread, and caramel.

The distillation took place between 2016 and 2021, with bottling in May 2024. Only 1,204 bottles were produced, each hand-numbered to commemorate the birth of Otto I. in 1204. The whisky is bottled at cask strength, is not colored, and is non-chill filtered, emphasizing its naturalness and authenticity.
