Pepin III. oder Henry IV.: Die stark limitierten Whiskys der Harzer Marke Emperor’s Way werden nach Königen und Kaisern benannt. Zu Ehren der royalen Führungspersönlichkeiten konzipiert die Hammerschmiede ihren Peated Hercynian Single Malt kräftig rauchig und mit feiner Fruchtnote. Die Abfüllungen entstehen aus 100 Prozent Torfmalz mit bis zu 35 ppm.

Nun besteigt Einer den Whisky-Thron, der dauerhaft bleibt: Mit Emperor’s Way The Imperial Abbey setzt die Hercynian Distilling Co. ihrer Reihe die Krone auf. Der neue Souverän ist die erste Standardabfüllung der Serie und erweitert die Core Range der Brennerei.

Batch 1 reifte ausschließlich in First Fill Sherry Casks. Vielseitig vorbelegt mit Sherry vom Typ Cream, Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sowie Palo Cortado, entwickelt sich in ihnen ein harmonisch ausgewogener Whisky, der Rauch, Mandarinen, Rosinen, Christmas Cake, Mandeln, würzige Eiche und Bitterschokolade balanciert.

Für den Namen hat sich das Team um Head of Distilling Anna Katharina Buchholz vom Kloster Walkenried inspirieren lassen. Unweit der Brennerei gelegen, markiert das Kloster nicht nur einen der Startpunkte des Kaiserwegs, sondern auch die Ursprünge der regionalen Aqua-Vita-Destillation aus Gerste. Zudem erbauten Mönche und Laienbrüder des Klosters um 1250 die alte Hammerschmiede, das Stammhaus der Hercynian Distilling Co.
