DESCRIPTION
Glasgow ist mehr als nur Schottlands größte Stadt. Die Metropole in den Lowlands ist nach schwierigen Zeiten in den 1970er und 80er Jahren heute belebt von einer pulsierenden Gastro-Szene, legendärer Live-Musik, Kunst und Architektur. Tatendrang und Innovation zählen zu den ureigenen Charaktermerkmalen der „Glaswegians“. So ausgestattet, stellten sich drei von ihnen der Herausforderung, nach über 100 Jahren die Produktion von Single Malt Scotch Whisky zurück in die Stadt zu holen. Als The Glasgow Distillery Company brennen sie seit 2014 ein neues Whiskykapitel in die Geschichte Glasgows ein.

Dass ihr das nachhaltig gelingt, beweist die Brennerei mit ihrer abwechslungsreichen und vielfach ausgezeichneten Core Range ebenso wie mit komplexen Single Casks. Neuestes Beispiel: das Glasgow 1770 Limited Edition Release aus dem Moscatel Wine Cask.

Für die Lowlands ungewöhnlich, brennt die Glasgow Distillery u.a. Single Malt aus Torfmalz. Für die Exklusivabfüllung verbrachte dieser seine finale Reifezeit in einem mit Moscatel vorbelegten Fass. Der Süßwein entsteht aus der gleichnamigen Sherrytraube und entwickelt einen hohen Zuckergehalt. Das Ergebnis bei kräftigen 60,1% vol. Cask Strength: süßer Rauch, florale Noten, Tabak, Zitrusfrüchte und Gewürze.
