BESCHREIBUNG
Loch Gorm is the name of the annual limited edition aged in sherry. Named for Islay's largest freshwater lake, which borders the distillery, the dark, murky color of the loch's water is reflected in the rich, coppery tones of this sherry-aged Loch Gorm Edition.

The 2022 edition was matured in Oloroso sherry casks for at least eight years. The 22 casks selected are a combination of 20 fresh casks and 2 refill casks.

These ex-Oloroso sherry casks convey a combination of rich sherry notes, tangy dark chocolate, rich fruit and burnt sugar. This pairs beautifully with the Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus found in the farm-made spirit.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Intense sweet pipe smoke followed by hints of freshly cut strawberries and candied lemon peel. Lighter notes of neroli (orange blossom), soft toffee and cloves.
Gaumen
Palate		 An initial note of dark chocolate and toasted walnuts, gentle tobacco smoke, hints of caramel and dates accompanied by subtle warming peat smoke.
Abgang
Finish		 Long and evolving with cinnamon and licorice wood, chocolate bitters and smoke.

    Die Kilchoman Distillery (ausgesprochen Kil-ho-man) ist eine Brennerei, die Single Malt Scotch Whisky auf Islay, einer Insel der Inneren Hebriden, herstellt. Die Kilchoman Distillery liegt im Nordwesten der Insel, in der Nähe der Machir Bay.

    Kilchoman wurde von Anthony Wills gegründet und ist nach wie vor eine unabhängige, familiengeführte Destillerie. Sie ist die kleinste auf der Insel, aber seit dem Erwerb der Rockside Farm im Jahr 2015 ist sie dabei, zu expandieren.

    Die Brennerei wurde im Dezember 2005 in Betrieb genommen und war die erste, die seit 1908 auf Islay gebaut wurde. Die Brennerei verwendet Gerste, die auf der Rockside Farm angebaut und in der Brennerei gemälzt wird, sowie Malz aus der Mälzerei in Port Ellen und bringt je nach Herkunft des Getreides verschiedene Abfüllungen heraus.

    Die Brennerei ist eine von sechs schottischen Brennereien, die noch mit der traditionellen Bodenmälzung arbeiten, und ist einzigartig, weil sie alle Teile des Whiskyherstellungsprozesses - Gerstenanbau, Mälzung, Destillation, Reifung und Abfüllung - auf Islay durchführt.
